MANZI Water has opened a new outlet in Nelspruit and it has installed automated MANZI refill stations, developed in collaboration with Sonke.
Husband and wife duo, Andrea and Kevin van der Linde opened a new outlet in Steiltes, Nelspruit, on Saturday, 1 February, says MANZI Water.
"We’re pleased to welcome the Van der Lindes to the growing MANZI family and look forward to serving the local community together," says Alfred Challis, CEO of MANZI Water.
Inspired by family members who successfully opened a MANZI Water outlet in the Western Cape, the Van der Lindes decided to address Nelspruit's urgent need for clean drinking water amid the ongoing water crisis by bringing MANZI Water to the local community, MANZI Water adds.
"Our vision is to create a network of MANZI Water outlets that not only provide clean water but also foster health, wellness and economic growth," says Andrea van der Linde. "We're thrilled to begin this journey in Nelspruit, a community we've come to love and call home."
A Community-Centric Approach
The MANZI Water outlet in Steiltes is more than just a business — it’s a hub for community engagement and environmental sustainability. Key initiatives customers can expect include; recycling programs, which encourage customers to return any empty water bottles for refills or recycling, reducing waste, and promoting eco-friendly practices, MANZI Water says.
Partnerships with local businesses to transform plastic waste into affordable housing materials are also firmly on the agenda, as well as education and awareness programs for staff and customers about the importance of clean water, proper hydration, and conservation practices, the organisation adds.
Customers can also expect:
- Clean Water Access: MANZI Water will offer a reliable source of purified water for residents, especially those in areas lacking safe drinking water.
- Affordable Pricing: Offering competitive pricing to ensure low-income households and pensioners can access clean water is a key priority.
- Convenience: The outlet is located at an accessible point, so residents don’t need to travel into town for water.
"Access to clean water is a fundamental right," says Kevin van der Linde. "We aim to make it both affordable and convenient for everyone in our community."
New Innovation
Additionally, MANZI Water says that the first installations of its state-of-the-art automated MANZI water refill station, developed in collaboration with Sonke, has started. The first unit was installed at Puma Energy in Klerksdorp, within their new Circle K, a globally recognised brand with over 14 200 sites, and another at Gift Acres Convenience Centre in Lynnwood Ridge, Pretoria.
This tech-enabled water refill station replaces traditional filling tables and bubble tanks, providing flexibility in delivering safe, clean and affordable drinking water to more communities across the country, particularly in areas facing continued water shortages, the organisation adds.
This approach advances the accessibility of eco-friendly water refill solutions in various retail settings. With customers in mind, MANZI Water says that it aims to make it as easy as possible for people to access the water they need, this includes serving larger volumes at once to limit costs and repeat trips for consumers.
Looking Ahead
MANZI Water says that it is committed to fostering sustainability, creating employment opportunities and contributing to socio-economic development across South Africa.
The opening of the Steiltes outlet and the launch of the Automated Refill Station represent significant milestones in MANZI Water's mission to improve lives, promote sustainability and strengthen communities nationwide, the organisation concludes.
