The Christel House South Africa learners from first and second grade got to spend the day in front of the camera and experienced the thrill of helping MySchool do more good in more people's lives, says the school.

As they prepare to enter their second and third years of schooling, they're as bright-eyed and enthusiastic about their futures as they were at the start of 2023, the school adds.

Christel House South Africa is a non-profit school based in Ottery, Cape Town and provides free, top-quality education to over 750 children from under-resourced communities on the Cape Flats, where gang warfare, abject poverty, violence and other social hazards are a way of life.

Through improved access to high-quality early education, Christel House South Africa learners have the chance to dream of a brighter future, according to the school.

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders' Warehouse says it funded three state-of-the-art education spaces worth R1 720 000 at the school in 2021, giving each year's group of 60 four-to-five-year-old children access to high-quality early education.

"We love collaborating with the incredible team at MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet. Our partnership has grown every year, from building classrooms for our grade RRs to including five little ones from our school in a professional photo shoot," says Adri Marais, chief executive officer at Christel House South Africa.

"The campaign shoot allowed the five participating students to showcase their career aspirations and empowered them with confidence. The sense of pride they experienced when they saw the end result of the campaign will be a lasting memory," adds Marais.

"We're on a journey with all of our beneficiaries and revisiting the joy and excitement of the learners from Christel House South Africa is part of that," says Pieter Twine, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet's general manager.

"Their irrepressible enthusiasm is an inspiration for parents entering the school system with their children this year. Reflecting on how those bright young minds from the 2023 campaign have continued to expand and engage is part of the progress we see when we're able to help schools raise essential funds by being beneficiaries of our programme — and having parents and supporters nominate them as their chosen beneficiaries," adds Marais.

Individuals are encouraged to sign up for a MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card online or via the app (Google Play or Apple App Store) to give back to up to three of over 8 500 Beneficiaries — at no charge — with every swipe.
