The Adé Hogue Scholarship, sponsored by Monotype, is in commemoration of gifted young Chicago-based art director, designer, letterer and avid cyclist Adé Hogue, and in cooperation with the Broderick Adé Hogue Foundation, according to the TDC. 

The TDC says it will award the USD$5 000 scholarship to an outstanding BIPOC student globally in their junior year of college or first year of graduate or postgraduate school who demonstrates exceptional talent and promise in the design or use of letterforms. The deadline for entry is Monday, 29 April. 

The Beatrice Warde Scholarship, also sponsored by Monotype, is named after the journalist, typographical scholar and communicator on typography who was the first female member of the TDC, says the organisation. She enthusiastically believed in the merits of education and championed them throughout her professional career with Monotype.

According to the TDC, the USD$5 000 scholarship recognises a woman college student globally in their junior year of undergraduate study whose work demonstrates exceptional talent, sophistication and aptitude for:
  • typography
  • lettering
  • type design, and / or
  • design criticism. 
The deadline for entry is Friday, 29 April.

The Ezhishin Scholarship, sponsored by Google, was launched in 2022 in conjunction with the successful Ezhishin conference, the first-ever panel and workshop event dedicated to Native North American typography.

The TDC says the USD$5 000 scholarship is for Native American and First Nation individuals, whether current students or those who want to supplement their education via post-grad programs, applicable workshops or self-initiated projects.

The applicant should reside either in the United States or Canada and demonstrate a creative practice that explores typography, type design or relevant linguistic work, adds the organisation. The deadline for entry is Friday, 29 April.

The TDC Scholarship Programme is open to juniors worldwide going into their senior (in the penultimate year of their undergraduate degree) year of college who demonstrate exceptional talent, sophistication and skill in typography.

According to the organisation, six USD$1 000 and four USD$500 scholarships are available, the deadline for entry is Tuesday, 30 April. 

In addition to the financial awards, the winners of each scholarship receive a one-year TDC student membership, which includes:
  • a copy of The World's Best Typography®
  • Typography 45, and
  • complimentary admission for all TDC events.

The TDC concludes that winners for all four scholarships will be announced on Wednesday, 14 August at the TDC Ascenders 2024 awards ceremony in New York. 

The Ascenders competition, celebrating typographers, letterers and type designers worldwide aged 35 and under, is now open for entries, with fees increasing after the early bird deadline of Wednesday, 13 March. The final deadline is Friday, 19 April.
